RSV program expanded
7 April 2026
Western Australia’s respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) immunisation program has been expanded to protect more infants ahead of the winter respiratory illness season.
Babies born between 1 October 2025 and 31 March 2026 can get a free Beyfortus RSV immunisation.
Other groups who can get the free immunisation include:
- babies with a high-risk condition born between 1 April and 30 September 2026
- Aboriginal children born on or after 1 October 2024
- children with a specific medical risk condition born on or after 1 October 2024.
They can get immunised regardless of whether their mother is immunised against RSV.
The immunisation is available at community health clinics, general practices, Aboriginal medical services, antenatal clinics, and maternity hospitals.
