Health advice for people coming to Western Australia

Need medical care?

Find out more about the different types of medical care in Western Australia and health care options.

Cost of medical care

Some health services for essential medical treatment are available to visitors from some countries through the Australian Government’s Reciprocal Health Care Agreements (external site) program. Essential medical treatment means any ill-health or injury which occurs while you are in Australia and requires treatment before you return home.

Some types of medications and health care services are not covered under these agreements.

Remember that these agreements do not replace private travel or medical insurance and that without travel insurance, your medical costs could be very high.
