Before vaccinations
You may feel nervous, anxious or overwhelmed in the lead up to getting your vaccination. This is completely normal. Speak to your parents and friends about how you feel and what you are concerned about. If on the day you feel you can't get vaccinated, you can choose not to – it is up to you.
You may choose to get vaccinated at your doctor, participating community pharmacy, community immunisation clinic or Aboriginal Medical Service.
Getting vaccinated can be overwhelming for some people, so it is important to be kind to each other.
During vaccinations
- You may feel a small prick or a sting, or you may feel nothing at all when you receive your vaccination.
After vaccination
- Most vaccines can cause mild side effects. These should be explained to you by your vaccination provider.
- Side effects after vaccination are usually mild and short lasting and do not need special treatment.
- Be kind to your peers. For some people, getting vaccinated can be overwhelming.
