With more than 35 years of nursing experience, Annie brings a clear vision to ‘build on our past, lead in our future,’ and a strong commitment to ensure the voices of nurses and midwives across WA are heard.
She is deeply committed to be an advocate for these vital professions, helping shape both policy and practice within WA and Nationally.
Annie believes that with every challenge, comes opportunities. She is committed to promoting and empowering the nursing and midwifery profession and scope of practice to ensure we have a workforce that can lead and deliver innovative models of care that meet the needs of the patient, the community and the population now and into the future.
Annie qualified as a registered Nurse in the UK, working in intensive care and theatres before moving to Australia in the early 90s. Throughout her career, she has practiced in renal dialysis, oncology, wound care, out of hours management, and patient flow, always seeking opportunities to advance her scope of practice and build strong teams of capable leaders.
Annie has held considerable senior nursing roles in the public and private health sector, and in 2023 became Area Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services at North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS).
She has focused on bringing nurse leadership closer to where care happens and led the successful pilot for nurse/midwife to patient ratios at NMHS in 2023.
Annie is committed to working alongside her nursing and midwifery colleagues – listening, learning and leading with them. She believes true leadership is grounded in connection and collaboration
