Electrical system
The electrical system of the heart controls the muscle contractions which cause your heart to pump blood around your body.
The heart’s pumping is controlled by special fibres that send electrical signals to the heart chambers.
These signals cause the heart muscles in your upper chambers (atria) and lower chambers (ventricles) to contract and release.
This creates the pumping action which moves blood through your body.
